The drilling program at the Lhtako Gas & Convenience Store and on the adjacent lands was completed on May 9, 2023. The scope of the drilling program is discussed on the FAQ page (Question 13) of the website. Soil, groundwater, and soil vapour samples have been collected and submitted for laboratory analysis. Complete laboratory results have not yet been received. A ground penetrating radar survey was also conducted throughout the Lhtako Gas & Convenience Store area to better understand potential subsurface migration pathways which data is undergoing analysis and review. Investigation findings are being shared with the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Northern Health, First Nations Health Authority, and Indigenous Services Canada.
Updated tap water and indoor air sampling results are discussed on the FAQ page (Question 12) of the website. As part of the ongoing environmental work, SLR will also continue to collect tap water and/or indoor air samples in the area of notification (see map in FAQs page). Depending on the property location within the area of notification, tap water sampling will be conducted at a planned frequency ranging from every two weeks to quarter-annually. Indoor air samples will be collected at select properties within the area of notification as required to inform next steps. SLR will be reaching out directly to property owners and/or occupants to coordinate the sampling.
